Everything you need to know about the Mt. Airy Night Market
This will be the first time a Night Market will be held in Northwest Philadelphia.
What: Food trucks and restaurant booths will line the street and sell everything from Pizza, crepes, fried fish, hot dogs, burritos, Kielbasa, popsicles, water ice, cupcakes, beer and more.
Where: Germantown Ave. between Sedgwick St. and Mt. Airy Ave.
When: 6-10 p.m.
Music: NWX, UCC Royal Brass Band, Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble and Doc Gibbs and His Band.
Commuter alert: Germantown Ave. will be closed today from 3-10:30 p.m. for the event.
Getting there
Mt. Airy is easily accessible by car, SEPTA Regional Rail, bus and subway. Live in the neighborhood? We suggest biking or walking.
BY TRAIN:
Take Chestnut Hill West line. Get off at either:
1. The Allen Lane Station stop. Turn right onto Allens Lane. Turn right onto Germantown Avenue. Walk up to Mount Airy Avenue. (Total distance ~0.4 miles)
2. The Carpenter Lane Station stop. Turn left onto Carpenter Lane. Turn left onto Germantown Avenue. Walk up to Sedgwick Street. (Total distance ~0.5 miles)
OR
Take the Chestnut Hill East line. Get off at the Mt. Airy Station stop. Turn right onto Gowen Avenue. Turn left onto Germantown Avenue. Walk up to Mount Airy Avenue. (Total distance ~0.4 miles).
Via BROAD STREET SUBWAY (Orange Line)
Take the Broad Street line to the Erie Avenue station stop (Broad & Erie Avenues)
Take SETPA Route H Bus (towards Cheltenham and Ogontz Avenues) and get off at the corner of Mt. Pleasant Avenue and Germantown Avenue
or
Take SEPTA Route 23 Bus and get off at the corner of Germantown Avenue and Sedgwick Street.
*Please note that buses may be detoured due to the street closure. Passengers should get off either on Mt. Pleasant Avenue as close to Germantown Avenue as possible (H) or on Germantown Avenue as close to Sedgwick Street as possible (23). Please check SEPTA’s website for detour information and/or speak with the bus driver.
BY CARFrom Center City, South and West:Take I-76 W to Exit 340A Lincoln Drive/Kelly Drive.At the bottom of the exit ramp, merge right onto City Ave and follow signs for Lincoln Drive.Merge onto Lincoln Drive and follow for 3.2 miles.Turn right onto Carpenter Lane.Turn left onto Germantown Avenue.The Night Market begins one block up at Sedgwick Street.(Alternative Route: Take Kelly Drive to Lincoln Drive. Follow above directions.) From Chestnut Hill and Northern Suburbs:Follow Stenton AvenueTurn right onto Cresheim Valley DriveTurn left onto Germantown AvenueThe Night Market begins up several blocks up at Mt. Airy Avenue.
ParkingFree parking is available at:
– Valley Green Bank, 7726 Germantown Avenue (after 6 p.m. only). Access from Allens Ln. (heading southeast on Germantown Avenue, turn right onto Allens Lane. Entrance is on the left-hand side).
-Corner of Germantown & Sedgwick (heading northwest on Germantown Avenue, turn left onto Sedgwick Street).
-Germantown Home (after 6 p.m. only, entrance on Carpenter Lane. on the left-hand side just before Germantown Avenue).
-Street parking is also available on Germantown Avenue and the surrounding neighborhood streets, free of charge.
