‘Memorial to the Lost’ in Northwest Philly remembers Philadelphians killed by guns

Spread out on the front lawn of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Mt. Airy is a memorial to those killed by guns in Philadelphia in 2013.

Faith-based movement Heeding God’s Call set up the exhibit by placing white poles and draping t-shirts with the names, age and date of each victim’s passing. There are 201 such poles on the grounds — one for each person killed by guns the previous year.

The exhibit is meant to increase public awareness of just how many lives are lost to gun violence in Philadelphia each year.
