In 2008, Amtrak initiated National Train Day as a chance to spread the word about the history of trains in the United States and the advantages of rail travel. This year, in celebration of trains, the Marshall Steam Museum will host a special event on May 10, 2014. Featuring rides on the Auburn Valley Railroad, electric trains demonstrations, special train-themed activities, and more and is bound to bring out the kid in all of us. Mother’s Day at the Symphony!, May 11th

Symphony Series Concerts are held at The Independence School, 1300 Paper Mill Road. Here our patrons are treated to outstanding acoustics of the modern 900-seat Auditorium. Set in Italy, this version tells the beloved tale of Pinocchio, a boy-sized puppet built by the caring puppet maker, Geppetto. Knowing of his longing for a son, the Blue Fairy brings Pinocchio to life as a reward for Geppetto’s remarkably generous spirit. A peerless pair of Rossini virtuosos joins forces in La Cenerentola—a vocal tour de force for mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, singing her first Met performances of the Cinderella title role, and the high-flying tenor Juan Diego Flórez, as her Prince Charming. Alessandro Corbelli and Luca Pisaroni complete the cast, with Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leading the effervescent score. Cape Henlopen High School Theater.

However, their influence went beyond the world of popular music and impacted Western culture, past the 1960s generation, in areas of fashion, popular culture, politics, and entertainment.
