Man sues former Resurrection Parish priest for sexual abuse

A 32-year-old man who now lives in Phoenix is suing a former priest from Resurrection of Our Lord parish.

Robert Brennan was removed from the ministry in 2005 following his inclusion on a grand jury report about sexual abuse by priests. The suit also names Cardinals Justin Rigali and Anthony Bevilacqua and Msgr. William Lynn as defendants.

The man’s lawyer says the abuse occurred between 1993 and 1994, and has resulted in many hospitalizations and a suicide attempt since.

According to the grand jury report, other priests, parents and parish employees were suspicious of Brennan’s behavior with boys, but Brennan was bounced from parish to parish.

Lynn and the cardinals are also named in suits involving other Northeast priests and teachers.
