Man freed after floor collapse at Philadelphia home

Rescue crews have freed a worker who was trapped following a floor collapse at a home in West Philadelphia.

Police said a man was reported trapped in the basement under some debris at the home when the collapse occurred at about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.

WPVI-TV showed the victim being pulled out on a stretcher through a window in front of the home about an hour later. He was taken to an ambulance about a block away.

Initial reports indicated that construction work was being done on the home when the first floor collapsed, trapping a contractor in the basement.
