Macro Sea’s Glassphemy!

by InLiquid and the Community Design Collaborative in partnership with the Kensington South Neighborhood Advisory Council (KSNAC) and theNew Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC). 

Part game, part art installation, part mobile recycling center, Macro Sea’s Glassphemy! is a 20-by-30-foot steel structure lined with bulletproof glass. A person standing on one side can throw bottles at a friend or enemy who is standing in safety behind the clear wall on the other side. More than a funhouse prop, it is an incredibly satisfying multi-sensory experience that simultaneously recycles the bottles broken on site.

The project was brought to life by Macro Sea, the same group behind the mobile dumpster pools installed on Park Avenue in Manhattan. The Community Design Collaborative and InLiquid are proud to bring Glassphemy! back home to Philadelphia, where it was conceived, for a limited engagement at the Crane Arts Building. It will be on view during the CAFe Community Arts Festival on October 17, as well as at the following events:

Design Philadelphia Closing Party: Sunday, October 17, 6:30 – 9 pm
