Late-voting New Jersey has clout in presidential primary

New Jersey voters are not used to their presidential primary carrying much weight.

But the June 7 Democratic primary is on the horizon and Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are turning their attention toward the state.

Clinton held a campaign event in Blackwood on Wednesday at Camden County College and former President Bill Clinton will be in New Jersey Friday to campaign as well. Sanders was at Rutgers in Piscataway and in Atlantic City earlier in the week.

The New Jersey contest comes as Clinton is just 143 delegates shy of the 2,383 needed to clinch the nomination. Sanders, who needs 910 delegates to win, is riding some momentum after winning in West Virginia but is more than 900 delegates away.
