PLAN: Philadelphia City Planning Commission

Tuesday, June 10, 1-4pm. 1515 Arch Street, Room 18-029. Among the issues the Planning Commission will discuss this month: the Lower Northwest District Plan, rooftop signage for the Lit Brothers building on Market East, notification requirements for by-right zoning permits, neighborhood zoning remappings, the East Park Canoe House, and the conveyance of surplus School District properties. Public.

WATCH: ROCKY at Schuylkill Banks

Thursday, June 12, 8:30pm. Schuylkill Banks by Walnut Street Bridge. It’s al fresco movie season again, and Schuylkill Banks kicks things off with a Philly classic: Rocky. Free.

REVIEW: Philadelphia Historical Commission Meeting

Friday, June 13, 9am. 1515 Arch Street, Room 18-029. The Historical Commission’s June meeting includes review of plans for the One Water Street development near the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and a 7-story building planned for the 300 block of Race Street. Public.

SHOP: 30th Street Craft Market

Friday, June 13, 11am-4pm. The Porch at 30th Street Station. More than 30 vendors will pack The Porch to sell crafty goods alongside food trucks and performers. Rain or shine. Pay as you go.

STROLL: Lancaster Avenue Second Friday

Friday, June 13, 5-8pm. Lancaster Avenue from 34th to 43rd streets. Sample Lancaster Avenue’s arts and eats during this month’s Second Friday, which will also include Songs for our Fathers – performance at 7pm at the Community Education Center (3500 Lancaster Ave). Free.

CHOW: Vendy Awards

Saturday, June 14, 2-6pm. Penn Treaty Park, North Delaware and Columbia avenues. Philly’s growing fleet of food vendors will offer samples of their best dishes and compete for the Vendy Cup. Admission includes eats, all-you-can sip beer and soda, and after-party drink specials at Fette Sau and Frankford Hall. Tickets are a tax-deductible donation to support the Street Vendor Project. Purchase tickets online. Admission $55, $30 for kids 8-12.

FLAG WAVE: Stars and Stripes Festival

Saturday, June 14, 8am-7pm. Independence National Historical Park and surrounding areas. June 14 is Flag Day so celebrate Old Glory with a 13-star flag raising at Betsy Ross House, a parade starting at the Constitution Center, and enjoy discounted admission to both the Constitution Center and Betsy Ross House ($5 each) for the day. Most events free.

GONE FISHIN: Father’s Day Fishing

Sunday, June 15, 8am. Wissahickon Environmental Center, 300 Northwestern Ave. Enjoy some family time fishing on the Wiss – bait and poles provided. Anyone over 16 will need a PA fishing license to actively fish. Kids over 6 are welcome. Free.
