Historic crisis

WHYY’s Peter Crimmins reports the Preservation Alliance For Greater Philadelphia has released its annual list of endangered buildings today. It features one example of what the Alliance says will be a growing problem with historic buildings: foreclosure. A house on historic Elfreth’s Alley has been abandoned mid-renovation by the homeowners; its been forclosed, the mortgage is owned by two (as yet unidentified) banks, and it’s infested with mold from a leaky roof. The Alliance says it’s a harbinger.

Peter will have a full report this afternoon on All Things Considered.
