Grey Lodge one of Philly’s best bars for beer nerds: Zagat

Grey Lodge Pub is at it again.

The Frankford Avenue bar has regulars from nearby Mayfair, Wissinoming and Tacony, but it’s also got a special place in the hearts of beer lovers all over Philly. Just ask Zagat.

“Mike ‘Scoats’ Scotese single-handedly put Northeast Philadelphia on the U.S. beer map with this bi-level haven,” reads the description in the “14 Philly Bars for Beer Nerds” listing. Zagat recommends the “Friday the Firkinteenth” brews the Grey Lodge pours every Friday the 13th, but the bar also has a few special traditions, including participation in the May Fair, early morning drinking on Groundhog’s Day and the “Halfway-to-Thanksgiving” event in May.

It was also recently named one of the country’s 100 best beer bars.
