Germantown father charged with stabbing 7-month-old son

A father has been arrested in a stabbing that critically injured his 7-month-old son in their northwest Philadelphia home.

Police allege that the 20-year-old man was involved in a “verbal and physical altercation” with the boy’s mother just before 2:30 p.m. Friday in a Germantown home.

A police spokeswoman said the child was stabbed in the head during the altercation. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center and then to St. Christopher’s Hospital in critical condition.

Police said the father would be facing charges including aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless endangering.
