From president to referendum, campaign season gets underway

The election season gets underway in earnest after Labor Day, and Pennsylvania has a packed ballot on Nov. 8.

The ballot will include U.S. president, almost 250 state and federal lawmakers, three statewide offices and a referendum on whether to raise the mandatory retirement age of more than 1,000 judges in Pennsylvania to 75.

Pennsylvanians also will replace at least three state or federal officeholders who were convicted mid-term.

The last day to register is Oct. 11; Nov. 1 is the last day to apply for a civilian absentee ballot.
