Fracking opponents deliver petition to Dover

Petition with more than 1,000 signatures from those opposed to fracking delivered to Governor Markell and his counterparts in NJ, NY, and PA.
The petition was forwarded to the governors by Delaware State Rep. John Kowalko (D-Newark South).  The petition urges the governors to oppose the Delaware River Basin Commission’s Natural Gas Development Regulations.  Approval of those regulations is on hold after Governor Markell announced his plans to vote against the plan allowing fracking in the Delaware River Basin.

Representative Kowalko said it would be irresponsible to not consider the negative consequences of the fracking process and politically unacceptable to ignore the wishes of the petition signers.
