A Sussex County judge has ordered home confinement for a former state Senate candidate accused of repeatedly molesting a boy more than 20 years ago.

The judge’s order came Friday after a bond review hearing for 54-year-old Eric Bodenweiser.

Bodenweiser had been released on $250,000 bond in October, subject to GPS monitoring and supervision by probation and parole officials. Authorities said Bodenweiser violated a bond provision prohibiting him from having any contact with anyone under the age of 18. The violation stemmed from a recent visit to a local go-kart track, where Bodenweiser reportedly had incidental contact with a 17-year-old girl.

After winning a Republican primary last fall, Bodenweiser was charged with multiple counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and unlawful sexual contact involving acts allegedly committed between 1987 and 1990.
