Five candidates in the running to join Wilmington City Council
The process of filling a vacancy on Wilmington City Council has taken longer than expected, but the end is in sight.
Five candidates will be interviewed this Friday by a committee of council members that was established to make a recommendation. Former 3rd district Council member Stephanie T. Boulden won election to the State House of Representatives in November, and stepped down after 18 years on City Council.
The committee recommended a candidate, who failed to get the needed support from Council at its meeting on December 16th.
On advice of the city solicitor, the committee was reconvened. Candidates to be interviewed are Edwina Bell-Mitchell, Darius Brown, Richard Dyton, Eric Robinson and Earl Tate II. The committee is expected to make its recommendation to Council for action at its meeting next Thursday January 20th.
