First firefighters recognized with commemorative sidewalk sign on Market Street

Philadelphia’s very first firefighters were recognized today with a commemorative sidewalk sign on Market Street.

CBS 3 reports the Pennsylvania Historical Society unveiled an historical market in front of 221 Market Street to commemorate the original volunteer firefighters.

The plaque is located in front of Grindstone Alley, the site where the original firefighters stored their gear in 1736.
