Firefighters battling multi-alarm apartment fire in Ocean

    UPDATE: At 3:30 p.m., firefighters are hosing down hot spots and picking through the charred remains. About 18 apartments units are destroyed, according to a News 12 report. No tenants suffered injuries, although two police officers are being treated for smoke inhalation, the report said. None of the injuries are considered serious. 

    Firefighters are battling a multi-alarm blaze at an apartment building in Ocean Township that broke out shortly after 1 p.m. today, police said. 

    The fire is at the Twinbook Village, a garden apartment complex, on Apollo Drive off Route 35 in the Monmouth County municipality, according to the Ocean Township Police Department.

    The blaze is impacting multiple apartment units.

    Firefighters from the surrounding area are responding. 

    It was not immediately know if there are any injuries.
