Dover police say a local substance abuse counselor has been charged with sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy with whom she worked.

Authorities said Monday that 30-year-old Rebecca Adams of Dover is charged with 12 counts of fourth-degree rape, 12 counts of sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust, two counts of providing alcohol to a minor, and continuous sexual abuse of a child.

Adams was being held in custody in lieu of $29,200 secured bond.
