Eric Jackson has defeated Paul Perez in today’s mayoral election in Trenton, New Jersey. According to NJ.com, Jackson received 5569 votes or 55 percent compared with Perez’ 4410 votes or 44 percent.
Jackson serves as the director of public works in Plainfield, N.J. and vowed to bring transparency and integrity back to Trenton’s mayoral office.
The election comes a month after disgraced Mayor Tony Mack was sentenced to nearly five years in federal prison after he was convicted on corruption charges.
In the East Ward council runoff election, Verlina Reynold-Jackson won re-election over challenger Joseph Harrison.
