Effort to reduce beach erosion

Members of the newly formed Delaware Bay Beaches Working Group will meet

for the first time today in Legislative hall to develop recommendations for state lawmakers to restore the state’s beaches and control erosion.  The group’s focus stretches from Pickering Beach east of Dover Air Force Base to Broadkill Beach above Lewes.  The group says a recent environmental study showed that project to protect the sand could cost $8 million to $16 million over the next 10 years.
