DSP: 1 dead in fiery crash near Millsboro

The Delaware State Police say a man is dead after a fiery crash east of Millsboro involving a tractor trailer and a car.

The State Police says the crash happened around 8 am. Saturday. Officials say a man was driving a 1988 Mercedes Benz westbound on John J. Williams Highway when he appears to have lost control on the icy roadway. The car crossed the center dividing line of the roadway and was hit by a tractor trailer. Both vehicles traveled off the roadway and became engulfed in flames.

Officials say the Mercedes’ driver was trapped in his vehicle and that the driver of the tractor trailer tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher. The State Police has not released the identity of the man who died.
