Design challenge seeks plans to renovate four Philadelphia rec centers

Philadelphia has four rec centers that could really use some extra TLC. So instead of slapping paint on them and calling it a day, the Delaware Valley Green Building Council is hosting a contest.

Open to students and young professionals with less than five years of experience, the challenge requires participants to share their ideas for better, more sustainable facilities at one of the rec centers:

    Vare at 2600 Morris St.
    Cecil B. Moore at 2551 N. 22nd. St.
Tustin at 5901-29 W. Columbia Ave.
Mantua Wright at 3320-50 Haverford Ave.

Eyes on the Street has all the details on the contest and how to enter. First place winners in the student and professional categories will each win $1,500.
