Suspect in custody after shooting Delaware trooper

A Delaware State Trooper was shot this morning while executing a search warrant in Bear.

The trooper and other members of the Special Operations Response Team were executing a search warrant on Powell Court in the community of Red Lion Chase in Bear. When the team entered the home, a man inside the residence opened fire, hitting the trooper.

The trooper, who was not identified by officials, was struck in the upper torso, but the trooper’s body armor prevented a serious or life-threatening injury.

The trooper was treated at Christiana Hospital for minor injuries and was released. The shooter, also unidentified by the DSP, was taken into custody without any return fire.
