An early morning fire at the Spring Run Apartment complex near Newark forced several people from the homes and sent one person to the hospital.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the apartment building on Hobart Dr. when they arrived around 2 a.m. Wednesday. A second alarm was called and several fire departments responded to the scene.
One apartment resident was injured trying to escape the flames. That person is being treated at Christiana Hospital. A number of residents were displaced and are being helped by the Red Cross of Delmarva.
State Marshal Deputies are investigating the scene to determine where the fire started and what sparked it.
