2015 Cumberland County fair returns July 7-11

20150701 blue tent 2nd photoAfter the fireworks have ended, head over to Millville for a dose of Americana as New Jersey’s oldest fair returns to the Cumberland County Fairgrounds on July 7.

The Cumberland County Fair traces its beginnings back to 1695 in Greenwich and been at its current location for the past 47 years.

During the fair’s four-day run, attendees can expect to find daily 4-H and home arts exhibits, carnival rides (ferris wheel!) and games, pig races, monster truck rides, plus a host of food vendors serving up festival favorites.

There will be plenty of live entertainment too, including a strongman, juggler, comedians and music from Moe Fishbone, Dave Deluca, the Danny Eyer Band and the Good Tymes Band.

Full schedule

The fun kicks off on Tuesday with opening ceremonies and a parade of 4-H clubs.  Winners of the fair’s Little Miss and Mister Cumberland County (for children ages 4 to 8 years) will also be crowned.

Safety-minded parents can have their child fingerprinted by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.

Seniors receive free admission before 6 p.m. each day of the festival, but on Thursday – Senior Citizens Day – that free pass extends all night. Thursday will also feature the Wheels of Thunder classic auto show on the Midway and the 4-H pork and chicken barbecue from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Friday’s highlights include the amateur truck pull and barrel racing.

Saturday’s the day for serious motorsport with the annual demolition derby and Mud Bog obstacle course.
