theArtBlog.orgFounded in 2003 by Libby Rosof and Roberta Fallon, this blog covers the Philadelphia-area art scene with an eye to “bridging the gap between ordinary people and art.” WHYY helps Rosof and Fallon produce ArtBlog Radio, a weekly series of podcast interviews with figures in the local art scene, which can be found on NewsWorks’ arts and culture page. www.theartblog.org

AzaveaFormerly known as Avencia, this Philadelphia geospatial analysis firm specializes in geographic Web and mobile software, as well as geospatial analysis to enhance decision-making. Azavea says it is “committed to working on projects with strong social value in order to promote the emergence of more vibrant and sustainable communities.” www.azavea.com

Committee of SeventyThis nonprofit, not-partisan group is a taxpayer watchdog and advocate for government reform in the Philadelphia area. It is headed by many of the region’s most respected business, legal and civic leaders. Seventy provides essays and analysis of local government, as well as sharing with NewsWorks its array of voter information tools: district maps, polling place information, candidate guides. www.seventy.org

DVAEYCThe Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children has supported practitioners of early childhood education for 40 years. It has 1,700 members and 25 staff members. www.dvaeyc.org

The FallserThis monthly newspaper and website is owned and produced by About Face Design. NewsWorks shares content with the Fallser. www.thefallser.com

Generocity.orgWHYY’s innovation desk is underwritten in part through a partnership with Generocity.org, an online platform to help people stay informed, connected, and involved with civic engagement in the Philadelphia region.

G-Town RadioThis all-volunteer Internet radio station serving Northwest Philadelphia broadcasts 24 hours a day at Gtownradio.com. It is based in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Its mission is to “become an outlet for local content, community news and great music.” NewsWorks and WHYY provide training in audio journalism to G-Town volunteers, and NewsWorks occasionally features G-Town Radio content. La Salle University — GermantownBeatThis local news website is produced by student journalists at La Salle University. The editors of GermantownBeat are assistant professors in La Salle’s Communication Department. NewsWorks features the students’ work on its Northwest Philadelphia community sites, and provides training and advice in multimedia journalism to the program. germantownbeat.lasalle.edu

Leadership PhiladelphiaThis regional training program seeks “to mobilize and connect the talent of the private sector to serve the community.” NewsWorks is Leadership Philadelphia’s media partner in the Connector project, which identifies and celebrates the most effective leaders in the Philadelphia region. Leadership Philadelphia participants contribute essays to NewsWorks’ EssayWorks feature. www.leadershipphiladelphia.org

NBC10 Philadelphia WHYY/NewsWorks began a content partnership with NBC10 in January 2012. The two organizations share news content, videos and audio, and collaborate on reporting projects. WHYY reporters appear on NBC10 issues-and-news programs, and vice versa. NBC10 shares its weather forecasts and reporting with NewsWorks. The partnership was announced in early December 2011, the result of the merger of Comcast Corp. and NBC Universal. One provision of the federal approval instructed the merged company to form content partnerships with non-profit journalism organizations in every city where NBC has an owned-and-operated station. In Philadelphia, NBC10 chose WHYY and NewsWorks.org as its partner. www.nbcphiladelphia.com

NEastPhilly.comFounded in 2008, NEastPhilly.com is the only daily publication serving Philadelphia’s Northeast region. Based in Holme Circle, the web-only news source publishes daily news, features and columns, and also hosts a robust events calendar, video content and reader-submitted coverage. NEast Philly and NewsWorks work together to provide wider coverage of one of the city’s largest, under-reported regions. The founder and editor of NEastPhilly.com, Shannon McDonald, is a WHYY employee who writes The Feed blog for NewsWorks.org.   www.neastphilly.com

NewCOREThe New Conversation on Race and Ethnicity is an interfaith, interracial group dedicated to nurturing a more honest, more healing conversation among races in Philadelphia. It is based at the Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University. NewsWorks is the media partner of NewCore, and has helped to design, lead and document NewCORE’s public dialogues. NJ SpotlightNJ Spotlight is an independent online news service providing insight and information on issues critical to New Jersey, with the aim of informing and engaging the state’s communities and businesses. NJ Spotlight is supported by the Community Foundation of New Jersey, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the William Penn Foundation. Penn Project for Civic EngagementThe Project was founded in 2007 at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania as a resource for communities and institutions looking to hold a more civil, productive dialogue about issues and problems. Working with WHYY as media partner, PPCE has led projects such as Tough Times, Tough Choices, the citizen workshops on the Philadelphia city budget; Common Ground, a citywide conversation about the new zoning code; and Minds on the Edge, an exploration of problems and opportunities in the region’s behavioral health system. www.gse.upenn.edu/ppce/

Philadelphia Daily NewsNewsWorks collaborates with the city’s tabloid newspaper on two projects, the It’s Our Money blog on city finances and City Howl. City Howl is a site where residents can report complaints (or more rarely compliments) about city and regional services. The Help Desk selects interesting complaints, and follows up on them with city agencies. The It’s Our Money team has recently begun working with WHYY to produce a regular podcast delving into issues of city government and finances. www.philly.com

The Philadelphia Public School NotebookFounded in 1994, this independent, nonprofit news service is an information source and voice for parents, students, teachers, and other members of the community who care about quality and equality in Philadelphia’s public schools. NewsWorks and the Notebook collaborate on reporting projects looking closely at the effectiveness of city schools. NewsWorks republishes the Notebook’s reporting for a wider audience. www.thenotebook.org 

Philadelphia Neighborhoods/Temple Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab

Philadelphia Neighborhoods is the cornerstone of the Temple University Department of Journalism’s mission to better tell stories in the undercovered and underserved neighborhoods of Philadelphia. Each semester, different teams of Temple students concentrate their news coverage on various Philadelphia neighborhoods, telling stories that represent the city’s multicultural and multinational voices. NewsWorks is sponsoring teams of Temple student journalists to cover several neighborhoods in Northwest Philadelphia; WHYY journalists are providing advice and training to the students. www.philadelphianeighborhoods.com

Philadelphia WeeklyNewsWorks shares content with Philadelphia Weekly and links to its coverage, particularly its arts and entertainment coverage. Philadelphia Weekly, founded in 1971 and renamed in 1995, is one of the city’s chief alternative weeklies. www.phillyweekly.com

Philaplace.orgPhilaPlace is an interactive website, created by the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, that connects stories to places across time in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. The PhilaPlace Web site uses a multimedia format — including text, pictures, audio and video clips, and podcasts — and allows visitors to map their own stories in place and time. NewsWorks and PhilaPlace shares the multimedia content about city neighborhoods that each generates. The Historical Society also partners with NewsWorks and WHYY-FM to provide a weekly radio piece/podcast connecting the society’s archival riches to the week’s news. www.philaplace.org

PlanPhilly.comPlanPhilly.com covers design, planning and development in Philadelphia. PlanPhilly was created in 2006 as a project of PennPraxis, and was incubated and supported by PennDesign and PennPraxis until March 2015. PlanPhilly is now a project of WHYY/NewsWorks, expanding its reach to a whole new audience by taking advantage of WHYY’s multi-media platforms like radio and podcasts.

Technically PhillyTechnically Philly is a blog that “covers the community of people who use technology in Philadelphia.” The news site publishes daily with updates, profiles, reviews and listings. It follows technology-involved government policy, social organizations, venues, venture capital companies, startups, design firms and media in the broad region. NewsWorks and WHYY partner with Technically Philly on events such as Philly Tech Week, a week-long, citywide series of events organized by TP that uses WHYY as its main host site. The two sites share content, and writers from Technically Philly appear periodically on NewsWorks Tonight to give reports on trends in technology in the region.  technical.ly/philly

University of the ArtsThe College of Media and Communications at the University sponsors an independent study program for students to work with NewsWorks to produce multimedia reports for the website. Four to five students take part each term. cmac.uarts.edu

900-AM, WURD Radio WURD is a talk radio station in Philadelphia devoted to African-American issues and voices. WURD aims to provide “interactive, information-based, talk radio founded on the concepts of empowerment, community focus, and enlightened conversation.”  WHYY/Newsworks provides training, support and audio journalism to WURD, WURD helps NewsWorks connect with important and underrepresented voices in the Philadelphia community. www.900amWurd.co
