United States Coast Guard members apprehended a man with an outstanding warrant on a commercial fishing vessel off the northern New Jersey coast on Friday.

United States Coast Guard members apprehended a wanted man on a commercial fishing vessel off the New Jersey coastline on Friday.
Crew members on the 87-foot Coast Guard patrol cutter Shrike boarded the boat, dubbed “Scapper,” around 1:30 p.m. and discovered that a male aboard had an outstanding warrant for drug use, according to an agency news release.
Personnel detained the man and escorted the vessel to Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook.
Officers from the Union County Sheriff’s Office arrived to the station and took custody of the man, who was not identified.
“The Coast Guard will often work with local law enforcement officers to help identify persons with warrants or other issues of concern,” said Capt. Jason Tama, commander of Coast Guard Sector New York. “This is an example of the outstanding cooperation we have with local law enforcement personnel.”
