6-year-old New Jersey child struck, killed by school bus

A young boy was struck and killed by a school bus in Camden County.

Investigators say the 6-year-old boy was on Aqua Lane in Waterford Township on Monday shortly before 8:30 a.m. The boy began walking in front of a bus that was stopping to pick up children at the time, according to officials.

Investigators say the bus began to move forward when it struck and killed the young boy.

The boy was a first grade student at Atco Elementary School. Officials have not yet released his name.

The school is providing counseling services for students. Police continue to investigate the accident.
