CEO of N.J. medical pot dispensary quits

The president and CEO of one of New Jersey’s three medical marijuana dispensaries has quit.

Bill Thomas tells The Star-Ledger in an email that he needed to find a paying job after running the nonprofit Compassion Care Foundation in Egg Harbor Township without a salary.

The dispensary opened in October and serves about 600 patients.

Medical marijuana has been off to a slow start in New Jersey. It took nearly three years from the time medical marijuana was legalized in 2010 until the first dispensary opened.
