Carolers bundled up to sing Christmas songs by candlelight in McMichael Park [gallery]

An East Falls neighborhood tradition soon to enter its third decade, dozens of locals braved chilly temperatures to follow a path lined with paper lanterns and join Wednesday night’s Candlelight Carol Sing.

The event, which is in its 29th year, was sponsored by the East Falls Community Council, Friends of Falls of Schuylkill Library and the East Falls Presbyterian Church.

After more than a half hour of singing Christmas standards by the light of candle, cellphone and flashlight, attendees headed back to the nearby church for hot cider and holiday cookies.
