Ocean County forest fire expands to 300 acres

A large forest fire in western part of Beachwood, in Ocean County has now burned 300 acres, according to the Berkeley Township Police Department.

Jersey Shore Hurricane News reports the fire is in the area of Grand Central Parkway and Northern Boulevard and as of 3:15 p.m. was not contained. Berkeley Police say an evacuation has been ordered for the Continental Avenue and surrounding streets as a precaution due to shifting winds. Several homes have sustained some damage but were none have been destroyed. Also, there have been no reported.

The fire comes as Forest Fire Service crews working to contain a forest fire in the Bevans Wildlife Management Area in southern New Jersey that has consumed at least 1,500acres.
