Round Two

Shoppers crammed malls and stores as late as Christmas Eve to get those last-minute gifts, and now those same stores and malls are preparing for some of those same shoppers to again crowd the aisles — this time looking for post-Christmas deals and sales, or cooling their heels in the returns/exchanges line.

An article in the Newark Star-Ledger says retailers experts, encouraged by an improved holiday shopping season, are expecting after-Christmas sales to give an even bigger boost, coupled with the fact that the day after Christmas is a Sunday — when most people don’t have to worry about going in to work.

The possible snowfall that may hit the region on Sunday didn’t figure into retailers’ plans. Maybe they feel that the deep discounts they’re rolling out will have many braving whatever weather we see this weekend. And online retailers are getting in on the act. Paired with their Christmas messages are previews and offers for their post-holiday sales.
