Authorities: 9 displaced by N.J. motel fire

Nine people have been displaced after a fast-moving fire damaged a southern New Jersey motel.

It’s not clear what sparked the blaze at the Bay Island Inn in Egg Harbor Township, which broke out early Sunday. But firefighters were able to quickly extinguish it.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that eight adults and one child were displaced by the fire. Authorities said one person was taken to a hospital, but further details were not disclosed.
