Atlantic City airport rated in poor shape

A Port Authority of New York and New Jersey executive finds Atlantic City International Airport to be “in worse shape than any other Port Authority airport.”

The agency inspected the airport, which it manages.

A copy of the inspection obtained by The Press of Atlantic City shows inspectors found dirt and grime, stained ceiling tiles, soiled carpets and restrooms in poor condition.

AvPorts Management oversees the airport’s day-to-day operations under a contract with the South Jersey Transportation Authority, which owns the airport in Egg Harbor Township.

New Jersey Transportation Commissioner Jamie Fox defended the airport, telling the newspaper that whoever compiled the report “has not been to LaGuardia” airport.
