Arrest made in multiple Island Beach State Park vehicle burglaries

Police have charged a Pennsylvania man with a series of motor vehicle burglaries in various parking areas throughout Island Beach State Park, a state official said.

Lewis Davenport, 38, of Easton, Pa. was arrested at the state park by the New Jersey State Park Police on July 4, said Bob Considine, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Press Director.

Davenport was taken into custody in the Ocean Bathing Area 2 parking lot and charged with multiple motor vehicle burglaries, theft, criminal mischief, and credit card fraud, the spokesman said.

He remains in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $120,000 bail.
