Archdiocese celebrates annual ‘Millionth Meal’ milestone
To celebrate having given out one million meals to kids this summer, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Nutritional Development Services is giving away school supplies.
The annual summer program provides kids throughout the area with the meals the students would normally get each day at school. To celebrate reaching its annual one million meal mark, NDS will dole out some back-to-school supplies with a little help from Walmart.
One of the 45 kids at today’s event at Pinn Memorial Baptist will receive a backpack filled with the school essentials and a $25 Walmart giftcard to fill in the gaps.
The NDS Summer Meals Program is funded through the USDA and administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
