Annual ‘Blessing of the Lifeguards’ is today

Lifeguards will receive a blessing this afternoon in Long Beach Island.
The annual “Blessing of the Lifeguards” will occur at the St. Francis Aquatic Center in Long Beach Township from 4:45 until 5 p.m.
The church welcomes all Long Beach Island and mainland lifeguards regardless of religious affiliation.
“Please join us as we ask God to watch over the lifeguards who so diligently serve all who use our beaches and pools,” the church said in a release. “Come and be a part of the wonderful tradition on LBI!”
