Always turned on? Not this weekend: AC goes dark for Irene

It’s the city that famously boasts being “always turned on,” but this weekend, Atlantic City will go dark.

The DailyJournal.com reports the city will go dark this weekend as it braces for Hurricane Irene.

According to the report, hotel employees have been forced to notify future guests to avoid the area this weekend for safety reasons.

The DailyJournal.com reports all 11 casinos were scheduled to shut down Friday evening after Governor Christie set a noon deadline Saturday for them to close.  Under the Governor’s directive, hotel guests who were stranded due to travel logistics were permitted to stay in the hotels.
