Alleged child killer wants pretrial details from prosecution

The man accused of raping and murdering a 9-year-old Souderton girl is requesting more pretrial information from the prosecution.

James Troutman wants the details of the charges against him so he can “adequately prepare for a defense at trial,” as the Pottstown Mercury reports.

Prosecutors have already supplied 2,693 pages of witness statements and police reports, 744 evidentiary photographs, audio recordings of 911 calls and other documents, and reportedly denied Troutman’s lawyer’s request for more details. The lawyer has asked a judge to order the delivery of more information or dismiss the charges. A hearing date has not been set.

Troutman was arrested in May for allegedy raping and killing his young neighbor, Skyler Kauffman.
