AAA recognizes Delaware hotels and restaurants

Three venues in Delaware, sometimes known as “The Diamond State,” have received the AAA Four Diamond Award this year.
Each year, AAA inspectors visit nearly 6,000 hotels and restaurants to identify emerging trends in the industry and narrow down the most exemplary establishments.
Now, AAA Mid-Atlantic has revealed Delaware’s Four Diamond Award winners: Hotel du Pont; the Green Room located within Hotel du Pont; Boardwalk Plaza Hotel; and Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. The Green Room has received this honor for 30 consecutive years. Officials say it became the first restaurant in the state recognized by AAA Five and Four Diamond ratings in 1985.
The AAA Four and Five Diamond ratings are considered the travel authority’s highest recommendations for hotels and restaurants.
“Four and Five Diamond hotels and restaurants provide guests with a personalized experience and attentive service in comfortable, high-quality surroundings,” said Jim Lardear, director of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic.
According to officials, AAA Four and Five Diamond hotels feature everything from luxurious settings to personalized attention. As far as restaurants, those establishments normally offer fine dining experiences including creative chefs and complex menus.
“These establishments consistently exceed the expectations of the most discriminating traveler – the AAA inspector. We are proud to have these dedicated businesses in our region,” Lardear added.
