A ‘Dickens’ of a time at annual Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion Christmas celebration [photos]

The Dickens Christmas Party has been hosted at the Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion ever since the house became a museum in 1975, and it’s become become a neighborhood staple.

The afternoon party on Saturday was full of holiday spirit, Christmas readings and performances.

The mansion, originally built in 1859 by Ebenezer Maxwell has been a landmark for the West Germantown neighborhood and was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

“Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion is the corner stone of Tulpehocken Station Historic district and it’s just important from the tradition stand point and for the neighborhood that we continue to offer this year after year,” said Diane Richardson, the executive director of the mansion and organizer of the party.
