Architectural Committee votes unanimously for Campus Inn

The Philadelphia Historical Commission’s Architectural Committee voted unanimously to approve 400 S 40th St. at its monthly meeting, Tuesday, November 25th.
In the committee’s motion to approve, it stipulated that Campus Inn would need to make revisions to the three story transitional building so its design “is less competitive, less contrasting and more compatible with the mansion.” Or in other words, the committee wanted the hotel’s architectural firm, Atkin, Olshin and Schade to re-think using black brick for the transitional building as well as to return to the original glass window design on that building.
