Red Cross volunteers from area heading to help tornado victims
About a dozen mental health counselors from the Philadelphia area are preparing to go to the South to help tornado survivors. American Red Cross spokesman Dave Schrader said a group of mental health counselors have volunteered to be deployed,”They will be providing things like counseling and assistance to people who’ve lost loved ones, who’ve lost homes and communities, whoever might need some sort of mental health services, we’ll be able to provide for that,” said Schrader. “That’s something this area, the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter, sort of specializes in, so we have a lot of experts in that field already ready to go.”Schrader said the counselors are just waiting to learn when and where they are needed. He says the best way other area residents can help, is to donate money by phone, on the website, or by text message.
