Ocean City N.J. going multimedia to bring back tourists
One Jersey Shore community is working hard to send a multi-media message that despite Superstorm Sandy it is open for the summer season.
“We’re Ready, ready for business,” begins the TV commercial for Ocean City, with a shot of the beach and a storefront sign that flips from “closed” to “open.”
Michelle Gillian of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce says her group is spending more money than ever on publicity.
“We think TV’s an important outlet for us especially for our Philadelphia friends, and our second homeowners,” said Gillian.
Mark Soifer, the shore town’s longtime marketing and public relations guru, says from the Doo Dah parade to the 500 dog Basset Hound Waddle, all of Ocean City’s traditions live on.
“For this year we are having a special category in Doo Dah, for any brigade, or individual who can depict our motto, that ‘we’re ready,'” he said.
Gillian says summer rentals are about the same as a year ago. The chamber of commerce is even giving away week-long family vacations you can enter at Oceancityvacation.com
