127th PC/GA Day ends with thrilling football game, overall tie [gallery]

On a day that featured nine athletic competitions on the Penn Charter campus in East Falls (and a tenth on the links), the 127th PC/Germantown Academy Day essentially came down to one play on the football field.

When GA quarterback Hayes Nolte secured a first down after a frantic comeback, it clinched the Patriots’ first win against their rivals from East Falls in more than a dozen years.

The win also knotted the overall competion — it included soccer, tennis, water polo, cross country, field hockey and, elsewhere, golf — at five all, meaning the Competition Cup remained at Penn Charter.
