Analyzing the State of the Union address and the Republican response

Listen

Guests:  Ben Berger, Lara Brown and Imani Perry

Last night, before Congress and the nation, President Obama addressed the state of the union and outlined his second term agenda.   He focused on the middle class, pledging action on creating jobs and growing the economy and proposed initiatives aimed at education, infrastructure, clean energy and manufacturing.  He also made the case for limiting guns, overhauling immigration and protecting entitlements — issues that polarize Republicans and Democrats in Congress.   In this hour of Radio Times, Marty and her guests analyze the State of the Union address and the Republican response delivered by Florida congressman Marco Rubio.  Our guests are Swarthmore political scientist BEN BERGER, Villanova professor of political science LARA BROWN, and IMANI PERRY, Professor in the Center for African American Studies at Princeton University.
