Wimbledon

Listen

Guests: Johnny Perkins, Jon Wertheim and Kenny Holdsman

This year’s Wimbledon hasn’t been all champagne and strawberries for the likes of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova.  The trio crashed out in the tournament’s tumultuous first week, followed closely by the shock exit of defending champion Serena Williams on Monday.  A string of top seeds have been toppled at the prestigious Grand Slam, leaving some players blaming the All England Club’s notoriously tricky grass courts.  As we head into Wimbledon finals weekend,  we’ll talk to JOHNNY PERKINS from the All England Lawn Tennis Club, which hosts the tournament, and JON WERTHEIM, senior writer for Sports Illustrated and author of Strokes of Genius: Federer, Nadal and the Greatest Match Ever Played.  We’ll also ask KENNY HOLDSMAN, President of Legacy Youth Tennis & Education, what the sport can do to attract the tennis stars of tomorrow.
