Listen 00:48:47

Guests: Allan Zarembski, Tom MacDonald, Cezary Podkul, Rick Gray

First up on today’s show, we get updated on last night’s Amtrak train derailment when we speak with WHYY’s TOM MacDONALD, and we’ll get some insight into how the forensics investigation will be conducted with University of Delaware’s train safety expert ALLAN ZAREMBSKI.

Then: It never feels good when someone breaks their promise to you. This is the crux of the current pension crisis that is taking place in municipalities all over America. Today on Radio Times, we hear about how the promise of public pensions is being handled locally and around the country. We’ll speak with CEZARY PODKUL, finance reporter for ProPublica who has been following and analyzing Chris Christie’s recent claims about fixing New Jersey’s pension debt. And lastly, we’ll hear from Lancaster Mayor RICK GRAY. He was part of a coalition of ten Pennsylvania mayors who are sounding the alarm over the state’s pension problem, and offering some solutions on how to ease the burden.
