Steve Lopez

Former Philadelphia columnist STEVE LOPEZ. He’s in Philadelphia to talk about his new book The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music. Lopez was a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer from 1986 to 1997 and now writes for The Los Angeles Times. The Soloist tells the true story of Lopez’s friendship with a homeless man who he later learned once was a promising student at Julliard. The story is being made into a movie due out in November, with Robert Downey Jr. playing Lopez and Jamie Foxx playing Ayers.
