Pulitzer Prize winner Sara Ganim & her editor Mike Feeley; then the Philadelphia Food Stamp Challenge

In announcing its award for local reporting last week, the Pulitzer Prize committee praised crime reporter SARA GANIM and her colleagues at the Patriot-News of Harrisburg for “courageously revealing and adeptly covering the explosive Penn State sex scandal involving former football coach Jerry Sandusky.” Ganim, who is 24 years old and graduated from Penn State in 2008, spent several years pursuing and reporting on what became one of the top international stories of 2011.  Her work and the commitment of the paper are a testament to the importance of local newspapers.  We’ve invited Ganim to join us in this hour of Radio Times, along with editor MIKE FEELEY to talk about their work on the story and to bring us up to date on events surrounding it.  Then, CAREY MORGAN, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, explains what it’s like to live on $5 a day worth of food, the average benefit for an individual depending on food stamps.
